know what your health is risking |
Amazing how time flies…One thing I learned is how important my Family Health Tree is.
It is something I always took for granted, but as the saying goes “we never stop learning” do we?
My biggest lesson aside from (the pain of losing a loved one and my buddy for life) has been my health,
I almost always think of my sister on those bad days when depression sets in. My mom was a single mom and my sister was like a second mom to us. We were used to looking out for each other. So, those are the days I need her the most.
I’m not generally a person that allows depression to take over me, I’m a positive strong minded individual. But when you aren’t feeling well it’s unavoidable.
I am not the energetic, busy bee I always was, well…I’m still a busy bee and this bee needs another vacation. Sorry, trying to stay focused 🙂
In the early years, the Dr. My mom took me to told me “If you keep eating a lot to try to gain weight you will regret it. ( I had no idea of my family health tree and that there were issues with diabetes and/or arthritis, my mom didn’t talk about it .)
He continued to tell me that “in the future, you’ll have a harder time getting the weight off”.
I would just tell my mom “I can’t see that happening”. (because I just couldn’t gain weight even trying)
I had another aunt that cried one time while asking me”oh honey, does your mom feed you?”
I wish I could have gotten details on the “you will regret it” comment that the Dr. was referring to, but
He probably figured at that young age I won’t take the warning advice seriously anyway.
You know when we are young we think we are invincible and we don’t even think about health in the future, so we smoke, experiment and eat all that we like,
especially if you’re thin because we don’t care so we just go on with our love affair with foods and snacks.
The good news is that
once we know of the risk’s we can start to have a healthier lifestyle for our family and decrease that risk.
I started hearing about Bone Broth and I remembered: “hum, no wonder my dad is still pretty healthy, that man cleans his meat bones out like a whistle”. Most of his family are Diabetic but thank God he is the only one that is not. He also is an active man, always fit and still goes to the gym..
The right diet and supplements is the only combat against many diseases besides medication. But the medication/Drugs is what I’m trying to reduce here. I prefer the more natural wellness approach.
I just can’t see myself taking too much medication, so I start looking for a better way or use the process of elimination like they say.
If I have to get a prescription medication I research ways for taking a more natural approach where I won’t have to worry about the side effects of the medication.
I went to a chiropractor which also practices in homeopathy and wellness. My first time going to one. I really enjoyed this, I always wanted to go to one.
They explain how your body works, they test and work with your reflexes and how it reacts to different herbs and supplements.
Medications work, but when I hear the side effects, I get stressed out. Don’t get me wrong, there are some you can’t live without because they really are effective.
However, holistic therapy offers a healthier, happier no side effects (unless you’re allergic) alternative, so I don’t feel like a car going into the mechanics (fixing one thing and then something else goes wrong).
Always check with your Doctor, see if you can take a supplement that’s good for the treatment you are currently on and that won’t interact with the medicine you are presently taking.
There are plenty of people that are blessed with a “Healthy as a horse, clean bill of health”
but a lot of us aren’t that lucky, when u see that genetically you have a greater risk of developing certain diseases it does and should bring up a red flag.
There are over 80 different types of autoimmune diseases and over 2-5 million people are affected.
So, you can either ignore and run out of chances to fix this or you can begin a healthy journey. I hope you choose the latter.
At the end of the day, your life is your own., But if you aren’t educating yourselves it could be costly, painful or deadly to say the least.
Living healthy is a bit more expensive but so are the number of visits to the hospital, the medication.plus
getting more meds and having to take something to relieve side effects and so on.

It’s also true “Food is Medicine”. If we still had caveman today, they’d say ” you see, it works”.
Anyway, the bottom line is we need to enjoy and spend more time with the people we love, time waits for no one and the clock is ticking.
Remember that we do pass these bad health diseases on to our kids, grand kids and so on.
I started this blog to share with all of you affordable Vacations and the importance of family bonding time.
Then, I added health and wellness because if we have a close bond with our loved ones plus health we become better, happier more relaxed, happier people.
Mind, Body, AND Soul. Plus, we feel better in that swimsuit too:)
This Journey has taught me that It’s not a beauty contest anymore (those were my old memories) It’s more of a healthy solution for all of us now.
